Homemade almond milk

Here is the Homemade almond milk recipe!
If you've never tried it, you absolutely must! It is a nutritious and refreshing vegetable drink, perfect during hot summer days.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of raw almonds
  • 4 cups of filtered water (for soaking)
  • 4 cups of filtered water (for blending)
  • Optional: Sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or dates (to taste)
  • Optional: Flavorings like vanilla extract or cinnamon (to taste)
  • Cheesecloth or nut milk bag for straining

Instruction:

  1. Soak the Almonds: Place the raw almonds in a bowl and cover them with about 4 cups of filtered water. Let them soak overnight or for at least 8 hours. Soaking softens the almonds and makes them easier to blend.

  2. Rinse and Drain: After soaking, drain and rinse the almonds thoroughly under cold water. Discard the soaking water.

  3. Blend with Water: In a blender, combine the soaked almonds with 4 cups of fresh filtered water. If desired, add sweeteners and flavorings for extra taste. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  4. Strain the Milk: Place a nut milk bag or cheesecloth over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended almond mixture into the bag or cheesecloth, allowing the liquid to strain through while trapping the almond pulp.

  5. Squeeze and Strain: Carefully gather the edges of the nut milk bag or cheesecloth and squeeze to extract as much liquid as possible. Continue until you've strained all the almond milk from the pulp.

  6. Store and Enjoy: Transfer the freshly strained almond milk into a clean glass jar or container with a tight-fitting lid. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. Shake well before each use as natural separation may occur.

  7. Serve and Share: Pour your homemade almond milk over cereal, use it in smoothies, or enjoy it straight from the glass. Get creative and explore the endless possibilities of nutty goodness!
